The Dolphin Habitat staff is proud to announce that as of April 1, 2007 the facility is a member of The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums.
The AMMPA is an international association that represents marine life parks, aquariums, zoos, research facilities and professional organizations dedicated to the highest standards of care for marine mammals; and to their conservation through public education, scientific study and wildlife presentations.
Accredited members must uphold Alliance Standards and Guidelines to optimize the psychological and physical health of, and environmental conditions for, individual marine mammals under their care.
The Dolphin Habitat received high marks after being inspected by Alliance officials in mid-March. “This is a tremendous achievement for our facility and the hotel. It could not have been accomplished without the great teamwork from everyone involved,” said Missy Giannantonio, Curator of Education.
The Alliance administers a stringent accreditation process for its members. Accredited members must uphold Alliance Standards and Guidelines to optimize the psychological and physical health of, and environmental conditions for, individual marine mammals under their care, and to maximize the educational and scientific value of their collections as a whole.
